Rima: Studio Night – 6/11

Another studio night! So last time my take away was that I needed to get better about composing in camera vs relying on cropping later. So I kept that in mind and I did a lot better this time, very minimal cropping required post shoot. This time though, my take away was lighting. I need to use my meter. I was watching one of the other photographers build this very elaborate setup – it was pretty great watching him explain what his vision was and then build it. But what I learned was I need to slow down and start metering, build that core set of lighting fundamentals up so that I can execute my own vision.

Anyway, here’s the pics! First one is my favorite I think.

Great progress on improving your in-camera composition! It’s inspiring to see how you’re focusing on lighting fundamentals and learning from others. Slowing down and metering will definitely elevate your work to the next level. The photos look fantastic, especially the first one—shame about forgetting the model’s name though! How do you plan to integrate these new techniques into your next shoot? WordAiApi
