I had the opportunity to photograph the USS LST 393 reenactment this past weekend—yet another fantastic experience. The USS LST 393 was part of the historic landing at Omaha Beach and is one of only two remaining Landing Ship Tanks from WWII. (I found this especially interesting given my work on the current Abrams program—I kept wondering how many modern tanks this boat could hold. #engineerbrain)
What made this reenactment particularly unique was that it featured both an air raid and an opening speech from Medal of Honor recipient James “Doc” McCloughan. That air raid was pretty kickass, and I loved photographing it.
Anyway, here are some pics. As always, if any of the reenactors want copies of their photos, just hit me up via the contact link on my page or the email on my card.

And here are a few shots of some of the background activities! At every reenactment I attend, the folks are always incredibly knowledgeable and love sharing their passion and expertise—that’s one of the best perks of these events. I always learn something new!
