I almost called this one Urban Ballet, but that was last week—so Urban Grace it is!
This week’s shoot was with another ballet dancer. Funny enough, I’ve never actually seen a ballet or any kind of dance performance, but in the span of two weeks, I’ve photographed three dancers! Really hoping I can find more cause this shoot was a heck of a lot of fun!
This time, the model was Rhianna—you can find her Instagram here. We shot in an empty parking deck in downtown Pontiac, Michigan. It was a totally different experience from working in a studio. We had just a softbox, a Cheetah stand, and a Godox AD200—and honestly, that was all we needed.
The way she moved was incredible—jumps, kicks, hair flips! I had to work fast to adjust ISO, shutter speed, and flash power on the fly to capture it all. I don’t mind admitting I missed more than a few shots—but that’s part of the fun. Try, learn, repeat.Hope you enjoy the pics!
First one is my favorite!
