Rimia – Studio Night 1/21/26

First studio night of the year!!!

Boy did I miss studio nights at Copperflair. I didn’t realize how much I missed them until we had like a month off from them for the holidays. But now they are back and everything is awesome!

For this studio night we worked with the amazing Rimia, a model and dancer. We also tried out a new continuous lighting setup, which was pretty cool. But if you look at the pictures you will see a little bit of banding (horizontal or vertical lines). This is a lighting + shutter issue that you can run into with continuous lights.

LED panels use PWM (pulse width modulation) to control brightness. Which means they are flickering very fast – too fast for your eyes to pick up but not your cameras sensor. Basically it’s a sync issue between my shutter speed and the lighting we used. So next time I need to lower my shutter speed.

Why do I show the images still if they aren’t perfect? Because this blog is about encouraging learning and growth and sometimes the best way to do that is to embrace your mistakes and learn from them.

Even with that small issue this was a really cool shoot. Hope you enjoy the pics!
