Noelle: Vintage Hollywood Studio Night 7/16

I love vintage style, you say 1940’s anything and I’m there. So this week at Copperflair’s open studio night was… Vintage Hollywood! This shoot was a lot of fun and our amazing model Noelle was great to work with.

My focus this week was more on editing then shooting, I was trying to find the right blend of modern and vintage while trying not to go to far from my typical photo style. I almost went black and white, but I thought that would have been a bit too heavy handed.

So as always I try to identify something that went well and something to work to improve. So what went well? Editing. I’m starting to get a decent flow going. I’ve found that using Lightroom for the basic adjustments – colors, tones, etc… then using Photoshop for the retouching is a decent flow for me.

What to work on? Composition in camera. I found I had to crop quite a bit on this shoot, which is going to be an issue if I want to switch to film.

I’ve also noticed that the image quality drops quite a bit with my export settings, something to investigate I think!

All that aside this shoot was a lot of fun. We used a four light setup again (I need to figure out my lighting radios for backlighting). I shot it with my Sony 70-200mm f4, and my a7iii. hope you enjoy the pictures!
