So all the photo’s from the various reenactments I went to this year got flagged as violating “export controls” and my account was marked as ‘unable to be found by people that don’t already follow you.’ So I pulled pretty much all the photo’s from Instagram that I had posted and I think I’m done with that for the foreseeable future. I kept facebook – but that’s really just cause my camera club uses that to coordinate a lot of stuff.
Instagram’s whole game is keeping you on the treadmill. Post every day, post reels, chase the algorithm. The second you stop, your reach tanks and you disappear. That’s not photography – that’s content farming.
My work doesn’t live or die by likes. It’s not disposable. I’d rather put it here, in a space I control, where it lasts. If people want to see it, they’ll find it. If they don’t, fine – at least it’s not being buried under ads and noise.
End of rant – for now…
